Court remands man for killing son

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered that a 29-years-old man, Gbenga Omotosho, be remanded in prison for killing his own son, Segun.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 8, 2014, at Area Two Beer Parlour, Adin Quarters, in Ilawe-Ekiti.

She said that the accused unlawfully caused the death of his son, Segun Omotosho, during a fight with his wife, an offence which contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code; cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Ikebuilo said she had duplicated the case file and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The plea of the accused was, however, not taken.

Counsel to the accused, Mrs. Grace Oyekanmi, sought for a date for adjournment pending the DPP’s legal advice.
Magistrate Doyin Akosile remanded the accused in prison pending the outcome of DPP’s legal advice, and adjourned the case to April 24 for further hearing.
