Court remands man in prison over pant theft

A Magistrate court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Rasaq Iyanda, for allegedly removing pant of one Raheem Alimot.
The accused was said to have committed the alleged offence on February 6, 2019 at about 2:00am at Dalegan Compound, Osogbo.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the one count-charge of unlawful and indecent assault preferred against him by the police.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr. Tunbosun Oladipupo, urged the court to grant his client bail in a liberal term.
But, the police prosecutor, Mr. Oladoye Joshua, objected to the plea of the counsel, noting that the offence is becoming rampant in the society.
He said the accused may jump bail and it may be difficult for police to re-arrest him.
The father of the victim, Mr. Raheem, told the court that his daughter shouted when she woke up in the morning and discovered that her pant was gone.
He said he took the entire occupants of the house to an herbalist and it was there they learnt that the accused person stole the pant.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele, ordered the accused person be remanded in Ilesa prison and adjourned the case to March 12, 2019 for mention.
