Court remands man in prison for ‘duping’ wife

A Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, yesterday, remanded one Lawal Opeyemi, for allegedly duping his wife, Funmilayo.
The accused was alleged to obtain N5.4 million for securing a land and building a house for her wife between 2016 and 2017.
According to the charge sheet read to the accused in court, the case was instituted under Advanced Fee Fraud.
He was alleged to have fraudulently obtained 6,100Euro which is more than N2 million from Funmilayo in April 2017.
He was also alleged to have collected N1, 050,000 from Funmilayo with intent to secure a land for her, and failed to do so.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge sheet.
The presiding Judge, Justice M. A. Onyetenu, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till October 10, 2018.
