Court remands man to Kirikiri Custodial Center for burglary and stealing

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court  Wednesday remanded a factory worker,  Yinusa Ibrahim, who admitted burgling his employer’s nylon bags company on New Year Day.

Ibrahim pleaded guilty to counts of conspiracy, burglary and stealing before Chief Magistrate J.A Adegun, who ordered that he should be kept at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre pending review of the facts of the case and sentencing.

Adegun adjourned the case until January  30 for review and sentencing.

Earlier , the prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, said  24-year-old Ibrahim, whose address was not provided, conspired with others at large and burgled the company to  steal  goods and money to the tune of N506,000.

Ogu said the factory worker committed the offences in October 2019 and January 1, 2010, at 124, Ogba Road, Agege, Lagos.

He told the court that the company belonged to Mr and Mrs Gooluck Nneebah.

Ogu alleged that the defendant and his accomplices burgled the factory on October and stole some goods, and came again on January 1 when the defendant was apprehended by security guard, while his accomplices escaped.

“They stole N330,000,  a computer set valued N55,000, a fan worth N8,000, a laptop worth N75,000, a wall clock valued N5,000, six pairs of Jean trousers and T shirts worth N33,000,” he said.

The alleged offences  contravene sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015. (NAN)
