Court remands motorcycle thief in Osun

An Osun state Magistrates Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital yesterday remanded a 22-year-old man, Olawuni Alaba, in Ilesa prison custody for stealing Bajaj motorcycle.

The accused was arraigned on two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Mr. Fatoba Temitope, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 27, 2018 at Ota-Efun area, Osogbo.

He said the accused conspired with others at large to steal a motorcycle with registration number GC 395 EJG belonging to one Muraina Taiwo.

According to the prosecutor, the stolen motorcycle worth N61,500 and the offence contravened sections 516 and 383(1), and punishable under section 390 (9)(10a) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused, who has no legal representation, pleaded guilty to the two counts allegation levelled against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Mr. Ola Oladoke, however, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesha prison custody.

He adjourned the case to July 24 for conviction and sentencing.
