Court remands transporter for alleged N200, 000 fraud

A Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, has remanded a 52-year-old transporter, Lawrence Fedipe, in prison for allegedly defrauding a man of N200, 000.The Senior Judge, Mr Garba Ogbede, who made the order after pleaded not guilty, said that Fedipe be remanded in Kuje Prison till April 13.
Fedipe, a resident of Gosa Borehole, Airport Road, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecuting counsel, Mrs Aderonke Imana, told the court that the defendant collected N200, 000 from Omoya Gabriel of Lugbe Zone 4 on Jan. 18.

Imana said the defendant deceived the complainant and collected the money under the pretext to deliver a Madza 626 car.
The prosecutor said that the defendant pretended to be a clearing agent, adding that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of Penal Code. (NAN)
