Court remands two persons for illegal possession of hemp in Osun


Justice Maurine Onyetenu of the Federal High Court, Osogbo, on Monday, remanded two persons, Gbenga Ogunsanya (26) and Lanre Adekunle (34), in prison, for illegal possession of Indian hemp.


A legal officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (NDLEA), John Ameh, told the court that Ogunsanya was arrested in Oyan, Odo-Otin local government of Osun State while Adekunle was arrested at Ijana, in Ilesa local government.


The prosecution alleged that the offence contravened provision of Section 90 of the NDLEA Act, cap N30, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.


The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge against them by the NDLEA. But, they have no legal representation to apply for their bail.


Justice Onyetenu however ordered that they should be remanded in Ilesa prison and adjourned the matter to February 25 for hearing.
