Court sentences 4 drug peddlers to 2-year jail term in Anambra


A  Federal High Court sitting in Awka, the Anambra State capital and presided over by Justice I.B Gafai, has sentenced four persons to two years imprisonment over drug related offences.

The four, convicted within the month of January 2019, were arraigned by the Anambra State Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA, Anambra state command, Charles Efosa Odigie, the convicts were Mr James Odili, aged 26, arrested with 1.150kg of cannabis sativa; Mr Paul Odah, aged 21, arrested with 3.5kg of cannabis sativa; Mr Ugochukwu Okafor, aged 28yrs, arrested with 2.8kg of cannabis sativa; and Mr Ugochukwu Onuchekwa, aged 35 yrs, arrested with 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and  1.7 grams of cocaine.

Odigie said  the NDLEA Anambra state commander, Mr Sule Momodu, while reacting to the development, warned drug traffickers and peddlers to refrain from the illicit trade or relocate outside the state as it won’t contain them.
