Coutinho heads to Bayern on loan

Philippe Coutinho’s dream move to Barcelona has turned into a nightmare.

Big things were expected of the Brazilian after making the £142 million move from Liverpool in January 2018.

However, just two seasons after his arrival, he’s on the outside looking in on the first team.

Barca have already signed Antoine Griezmann in a big money move this summer and want to follow that up by securing a deal for Neymar.

That means that Coutinho is deemed as surplus to requirements.

Barca were hoping to loan Coutinho to a Premier League side, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly making a bid.

But Coutinho decided against a move back to England out of respect for his former club, Liverpool.

And now it appears he could well be on his way to German giants, Bayern Munich.

According to Bruno Andrade of Goal, the two sides have agreed a loan deal for the player.

Bayern will be getting Coutinho for free, although they will have to pay the entirety of his €11 million-per-season wages.

They will then have the option to purchase at the end of the season.

Bayern are now in conversation with the Coutinho’s representatives and hope to strike a deal.

That would be very big for Bayern.
