The Nigeria Army in Zaria has distributed preventive kits to host communities – Kakangi and Karau-Karau in Giwa local government area of Kaduna state.
Blueprint Correspondent reports that the two villages host the institution, and its sister formation, 11 field Engineer as their training ground.
Approving the distribution of the kits to the communities, the Commandant of the institution, Major General Mohammed Sani, said the gestured was part of the Nigerian Army leadership under Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Bututai’s contribution in the containing the spread of the pandemic.
General Sani who was represented by the institution’s Chief of Staff, Colonel Ismail Oloyede, called on the villagers to abide by the rules of Covid-19 lockdown by the government.
He said the pandemic was real, and it was threat to human globally.
“There is need for us to help ourselves, and the governments to contain the spread of the pandemic, social distancing,” the Commandant said
Also, the acting commanding officer depot, Nigerian Army Medical Centre, Captain Manasseh Barde, sensitised the communities on the need to regularly wash their hands, keep good personal hygiene and report to the nearest medical facility when they experience any symptoms of Covid-19 to prevent further spread of the pandemic.
Highlight of the event includes the handing over of the items to the community leaders by the Chief of Staff Depot Nigerian Army Colonel Oloyede on behalf of the Commandant and vote of thanks by Alhaji Ibrahim Isyaku, the village head of Karau-Karau.
