COVID 19: AUPCTRE laments safety of Nigerian workers at work place

The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical And Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) has  expressed concerns over the safety of Nigerian workers at workplaces due to their exposure to both public and private activities.

In a statement jointly signed by its national president, Comrade Benjamin Anthony and acting general secretary, Comrade  Musa Ukpo , the union asked governments at all level to put in place safety measures against the dreaded Covid19 pandemic.

The statement further commended both the federal and state governments for ordering workers from level 1 to 12 to stay at home till further notice, but said more needed to be done to ensure protection of workers and their families.

“The Union calls on all ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) to immediately provide safety measures at their various offices, that is sanitary apparatus , wash hand basin, hand sanitizers , hand gloves other precautionary materials.

“The union commended the various managements in the aviation industries who have taken preventive steps to provide safety measures for aviation workers who are most vulnerable in view of their interaction with passengers in and out of Nigeria,” said.

The statement further enjoined workers in the country to follow all precautionary directives provided by government in containing the pandemic.
