COVID-19: FCTA seeks more stakeholders’ synergy





Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has called for more concerted efforts among FCT stakeholders in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic across the territory.

The minister made the call while unveiling FCT Health news magazine titled COVID-19: Bello’s Bold Steps Against Pandemic in Abuja Nigeria’s capital which was published by the Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS).

The minister, who was represented by her Special Assistant on FCT Focal Persons and Social Investment, Mrs Chinwendu Amba, said there was the need for continued cooperation among the health workers and residents to defeat COVID-19 pandemic.

According to her, no efforts or commitment will be too much in containing the virus within the nation’s capital.

“We have to continue with our struggle to defeat COVID-19 pandemic in FCT, since it started we have been doing our best with the support of all the stakeholders but there is a need for more commitment.

“The FCT Administration under the watch of the minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello is doing well in this fight, even beyond but we must not relax, especially the health workers, as the leaders, we will not relevant in supporting you people” she said.

Mrs. Amba acknowledged the commitment of the minister of FCT, Malam Bello for putting in all measures that are needed to win the fight against the pandemic.

She also appreciated the efforts of the administration for the enormous support given to health workers towards carrying out their responsibilities.

The Special Assistance to the FCT Minister of State noted that with the commitment of the health experts many positive cases are recovering and patients are getting discharge from the difference isolation wards across the territory.

In his address, the Acting Director, FCT Hospitals Management Board, Dr Francis Alu, assured the minister and FCT residents that quality health care services in FCT will not be compromised.

Alu said the Health news magazine was a concept that is aimed at keeping the residents abreast of the health happenings in the health sector within the territory.

While stressing that available information now has shown that COVID-19 has no cure, Dr Abubakar said the administration under the leadership of Malam Bello will continue to rely on guidance of medicals and experts at the ministry of health, NCDC and other relevant agencies to isolate and provide treatment for victims of the pandemic.

He called on the residents of the FCT to remain the greatest weapon to fight this global pandemic called Coronavirus in the territory.
