COVID-19: Gateway Utd extend break, urge players to stay home, fit

As Nigerians continue to grapple with the harsh effects of COVID-19,  Gateway United FC have now extended its break indefinitely.

It would be recalled that the Ogun State outfit proceeded on break March 19th, 2020 with a hopeful resumption on Friday 24th April, 2020.

However with the ban on football activities in full swing, the management of the club led by its Acting General Manager Niyi Soleye has restated the indefiniteness of the hiatus until official resumption of football activities in the nation.

“Though it’s a no brainer to extend the break granted to our players one month ago owing to the ravagememt of the deadly coronavirus. As soon as the ban on football activities is lifted, promptly we will ask our players to resume” he stated.

“In the meantime, we communicate with our players via digital platforms on tips to stay fit and healthy as well as the need to stay at their respective homes. It’s our hope that this virus will be exterminated in no time but we must play our part. So I use this medium to appeal to our fans and Nigerians at large to obey the directives of governments at all levels in their efforts to flatten the curve of COVID-19, he concluded .
