COVID – 19: Gov. Badaru may lockdown Jigawa

The Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, said he may likely declare a total lockdown as the only means to curbing the spread of Coronavirus.

Badaru stated this Tuesday while meeting with 27 local government chairmen in the state at the Ahmadu Bello hall at the state secretariat Dutse.

The Governor said this is necessary in view of the recent confirmation of COVID-19 cases in the neighboring states of Kano, Bauchi, Katsina and Niger Republic.

“If the situation continues to worsen in our neighbouring states, we have no option than to declare a total lockdown of our state as the only measure to save the lives of our people”, he said.

Badaru urged the 27 local governments to intensify both internal and external measures, ensure surveillance and screening of the travellers at local level.

Also the ALGON chairman in the state, Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel said the proactive measures taken through the support of security personnel on how to stop the spread of the diseases at the local level is yielding results.
