COVID-19: Jigawa distributes palliatives to 49,000 beneficiaries

To cushion the effect of poverty among the citizenry, Jigawa state government has flagged-off the distribution of palliatives across the 27 local government areas of the state.

The flag-off distribution took place at Dutse local government secretariat, where several items were distributed among the beneficiaries.

Speaking at the occasion, the state Head of Service and chairman palliatives committee, Alhaji Hussaini Kila, said about 49,000 people benefited from the palliatives across the state.

He also stated that the 49,000 packages of rice, sugar, indomie and spaghetti were donated to Jigawa state by the Coalition Against Covid-19 (COCAVID) in Nigeria.

He stated that the state government received and distributed about 150 trucks of palliatives from federal government to beneficiaries.

“He said the distribution of these palliatives has commenced across the 27 local government areas under the supervision of traditional leaders, media and civil society organisations to ensure justice and transparency in the distribution,” he stated.

While making his remarks at the occasion, the acting chairman, Jigawa state COVID – 19 Task Force Committee, Dr. Salisu Mu’azu said 12 people from each polling unit in the state benefitted from the government gesture.
