COVID-19: JNI urges compliance, commends Lalong

The Plateau state chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Wednesday, declared   support and solidarity with the position of Plateau state government on measures to prevent occurrence of COVID-19 in the state.

The state chairman of the JNI, Emir of Wase, Muhammad Sambo Haruna, made this known in a press release issued by the state publicity secretary of  JNI,  Sani Mudi.

He said: “The JNI under the leadership of His Royal Highness, Dr. Muhammad Sambo Haruna, Emir of Wase, wishes to declare  its support and solidarity with  Plateau state government on measures it has put in place to contain any possible outbreak of the coronavirus, also known as  COVID-19, pandemic in the state.”

He said their position was in line with the earlier one taken by the national headquarters of the JNI and the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, under the leadership of His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, that called on all Muslims to fully co operate with the authorities and health workers in  a bid to stem its spread across the country.

“In the same vein, JNI in Plateau state is satisfied with the proactive measures put in place by the administration of Governor Lalong to safeguard the lives of the citizens at this crucial moment, which calls for understanding, perseverance and support by all citizens to the authorities,” he said.

Mudi said  the JNI, while commending the government for rising to the occasion, call on the Muslim Ummah in the state to co operate fully with the authorities to ensure the success of the measures taken and realisation of their goals so that the looming calamity  will be averted.

“The situation entails sacrifices and all faithfuls, regardless of status or calling, demonstrate patriotism, resilience and patience as admonished by Islam.

“We should also not forget to dedicate ourselves in prayer and seeking for Allah’s forgiveness and compassion so that we will be able to overcome the challenges facing us,” he added.
