Covid-19: Joint task force reassures farmers of free movement of inputs, food, livestock in Kaduna


The Joint Technical Task Team on Emergency Response on Covid-19 has again assured that farmers are free to move their agricultural inputs, foods and livestock across all parts of Kaduna state without any hindrance.
The committee was established by the federal government to ensure food security during Covid-19 by tackling challenges of movement of food and agricultural inputs during the pandemic. 
State chairman of the team and Kaduna state Commissioner of Police, Umar Musa Muri, gave the assurance, when he led members of the Joint Technical Task Team on a courtesy visit to the Kaduna state Commissioner for Home Affairs and Internal Security, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, in his office at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.


The CP said the committee was inaugurated on May 7, 2020 by the directive of the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture nationwide to ensure free movement of agricultural inputs, food and livestock across the country.
CP Umar Musa Muri noted that the courtesy visit was to formally inform Kaduna state government of the existence of the committee and solicit for partnership in order to boost movement of agricultural goods in the state.
He also said the committee was replicated at the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state as directed by the federal government.


Responding, commissioner for home affairs and internal security, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, explained that already the government has declared farmers among the essential services during the Covid-19 lockdown.
He expressed Kaduna state government’s commitment to ensure that farmers across the state get the fertilizer they require for this farming season on time in order to boost the agricultural produce in the state.


Mr. Aruwan gave assurance of government’s support to the committee to ensure free movement of agricultural inputs, foods and livestock in the state.
