COVID-19: Law firm reaches out to security personnel enforcing lockdown

Amid the global crisis occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic, the law firm of late Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief T. A Ezeobi & Partners, has reached out to security personnel on essential services following the lockdown in the Federal Capitals Territory, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday declared a lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States as part of measures to contain the spread of the deadly disease which has recorded two fatalities in Nigeria.

In a virtual press conference on Thursday in Abuja, the Managing-Partner of the law firm, Barr. Jude Ezeobi, said it had become imperative to reach out to the nation’s’ security agents who put their lives on the line to keep the society safe from the devastating contagion popularly known as COVID-19.

Ezeobi explained that providing food and soft drinks to the police and personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was part of his chambers corporate social responsibility to cushion the impacts of the lockdown on essential services workers in the security sector.

He revealed that the programme which commenced on April 1 within the FCT would be extended to other parts of the country during the lockdown, urging other Nigerians to support the security agencies in combating the coronavirus in the country.

Similarly, the law firm advised Nigerians to observe social distancing and hand washing as well as other precautionary measures that are geared towards defeating the deadly virus.

“By the special grace of God Almighty and in our own little way to encourage our Essential Service Providers who are on duty during this coronavirus pandemic, Ezeobi & Partners, and its Friends, have resolved to provide refreshments on a daily basis throughout the  shutdown period to these categories of Wonderful Persons.

“Some of whom are: Health Care Providers, Men of the Nigerian Police Force and that of other Security Agencies, Fire Service, etc…We shall commence from Abuja and hope to extend same to other parts of the country.

“We lend our voice and urge everyone to practice Social Distancing and adhere strictly to the protective measures and directives from the World Health  Organisation (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).We care and together we  can defeat coronavirus and its associated challenges,” he said.
