COVID-19: Matawallle commends security operatives for securing borders

The Zamfara state governor, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has commended the security agencies in the state for intensifying security across borders of the state following his decision of shutting down all borders of the state that link the neighboring states of Katsina and Sokoto as a result of coronavirus pandemic.

Matawalle made the commendation when he paid an unscheduled visit to Yankara border to ascertain the level of compliance among motorists and other travelers who are entering the state from other states Monday night.

Matawalle who was received by the enforcement team under the leadership of the state commissioner of police, Usman Nagoggo, directed the security agencies to provide screening forms to drivers who are conveying essential commodities into the state for clearance before they could be allowed to enter the state.

The governor described COVID-19 pandemic as a global terrain that can destroy nations within a short period of time adding that, there is need for urgent proactive steps by all relevant authorities to curb the spread of the disease in all ramifications.

He said several committees were setup by his administration with a view to assist his government on how best the spread of the virus will be contains in the state.

Governor Matawalle also expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance among travelers and motorists over the directive given by his administration to close down all borders of the state in order not to allow spread of COVID-19 pandemic into the state.

He said, already adequate testing kits and other facilities have been procured by his administration as well as training enough health personnel assigned to work day and night across the state in order to ensure safety of the citizens of the state,” Governor Matawalle stated.
