COVID 19: NCDC approves Katsina private laboratory as testing center

Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has approved Sahel Medicare Centre, a private laboratory in Katsina state as testing centre for COVID 19 patients.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari revealed this to newsmen on progress report of COVID- 19 cases in the state.

Masari said the officials of NCDC gave the approval after inspecting the private laboratory. He said his administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with management of the private laboratory to commence testing of blood samples of COVID- 19 suspected patients.

Masari said the private laboratory is capable of testing 250 and given result within 24 hours.

Masari who gave a detail report of COVID- 19 cases in the state, said so far, the state has recorded 18 deaths with 337 cases.

He attributed the rising cases of the disease to refusal of people to strictly adhere to advice of medical advices.

He said due to rising cases of the disease, lockdown order remain in force for Katsina and Daura local government councils.

He further said government has banned movement from one local government to another while the land boarders remain closed.

Masari appealed for understanding and cooperation on issue of COVID 19 by people of the state.
