Covid-19: NEDC donates equipment to Gombe govt

In order to prevent coronavirus in the region, North East Development Commission (NEDC), has donated protective equipment and materials to Gombe state government.

The Chairman of Gombe state taskforce on Covid-19, Prof. Idris Mohammed, stated this in Gombe while speaking with Newsmen.

He said the items donated included 1800 personal protectorate equipment, 1000 surgical mask and normal mask 500.

Others were thermometers 32, hand gloves 400, hand sanitisers 400, patient monitor four and ventilators four.

Prof Muhammad said they have taken a total number of 11 samples and five have been released which turned to be negative while awaiting the remaining five cases.

The task force chairman said the state government now has six ventilators with the arrival of the new ones.

He warned against stigmatisation of those that have completed their 14 days isolation and tested negative to Covid-19.

“There should no be stigma to anybody isolated that was a suspected case or came in contact with those tested positive of civil-19.

“Even if it is positive, there should not be place for stigma because is a terrible societal situation therefore is not accepted.

“Those who have completed their self-isolation and certified free they should go about their normal businesses,” he said.
