COVID-19: No sanitisers, handgroves, other medical equipment; Anambra health workers cry out


Enugwu-Ukwu General hospital in Njikoka LGA of Anambra state has lamented that its workers were becoming endangered species to coronavirus due to lack of basic medical facilities to operate.
The Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, Dr Willie Onwuocha, who disclosed this in an interview, alleged that health workers in the general hospital had no facilities like handgroves, sanitisers, surgical masks and others capable of preventing them from contracting the pandemic or any other diseases while attending to patients.


He implored for help from the state government, corporate entities and individuals to equip the general hospital so as to enable them perform optimally while saving lives of people that comes far and near for medical reason.
“Enugwu –Ukwu general hospital was a more central hospital with much communities who benefits from the medical services from the hospital as such should have been given every medical attention in any sensitivity.

We do not have basic medical tools to attend to patients at this COVID- 19 era, the primary materials like the face mask, gloves, sanitizer, bucket with tap , water and soap to promote hygiene was personal bought by me.
“Enugwu- Ukwu was marginalised in the plan of the selection of hospitals to be used to fight against the spread of the coronavirus. We work to defend our oath of office to save lives but necessary precautionary measures was required of the government to provide for the hospital management to aid in effective Medicare both to the patients and the healthcare giver,” he said
