Covid-19: NUJ wishes el-Rufai quick recovery, urges distribution of palliatives

 


 
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna state chapter has prayed for speedy recovery for Governor Nasir el-Rufai from thr Coronavirus pandemic.
NUJ Kaduna chapter equally urged the state government to immediately embark on rapid distribution of food items and palliatives to the less privilege and the vulnerable in the state to ease their sufferings and save them from hunger. 
Kaduna state NUJ in a statement signed by its state Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Yusuf called on governments, philanthropists and corporate organisations to assist Nigerians in making available testing kits, and medical equipments for the management of the pandemic. 


“Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna state Council has joined others to wish Governor Nasir el-Rufai speedy recovery from Coronavirus so that he will continue to steer the ship of state particularly the urban renewal and other important projects in the state.
“Our thoughts are with the Governor and other Nigerians that have tested positive to Covid-19. Since the outbreak of the virus, the Governor has exhibited high level of leadership acumen and commitment. He was up and down to ensure that the state is safe.


“We are optimistic that His Excellency and others will triumph at the end because he had kept faith with the people at the hour of need. 
“The NUJ Council appeals to the Acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe to speed up the distribution of food items and other palliatives to the less privileged, as well as the vulnerable ones as promised to cushion the effect of their stay at home.
“We also want to use this medium to appeal to the wealthy individuals, corporate bodies and philanthropists to contribute both in cash and kind to assist the less privileges.


“Our members should use sanitizer, wear face mask, maintain social distancing and work at home if possible,” Alhaji Adamu added.
