COVID-19: Sen. Gyang distributes food items to constituents

The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Istifanus Dung Gyang, has distributed food items as palliatives to his constituents in a bid to alleviate the hardship occasioned by total  lockdown in the state to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Senator Gyang, Wednesday said it has also become necessary for the people to adhere to safety nets against the novel COVID-19.

The Senator represented by his special adviser Hajiya Nafisatu Oma, said the gesture was part his little way to support the vulnerable in cushioning the effect of the lockdown.

He said: “It is to let you know we share your pains and we truly care, particularly to those who had been vulnerable even before the pandemic broke out.

“In the course of my campaign I promised to serve everyone irrespective of religious, tribe and when I won the election by the grace of God, I maintained my position to be a representative of everyone resident in this constituency and to this end, what we are doing today is for everybody.”

He urged the people to be prayerful, patients and brothers keepers in this trying time and even beyond.

Senator Gyang also appealed to states and federal government to provide palliative measures to ease the suffering of the people.

He however, urged the people to stay safe by following precautionary measures given by government and health professionals to stop the spread of the virus.

Some of the beneficiaries John Kefas and Ibrahim Lawal who spoke to journalists thanked the Senator for the gesture and call on other politicians to emulate the Senator saying the essence of leadership is to offer service.
