COVID-19: VSF donates borehole, WASH facilities to 3 Kaduna schools

Victims Support Fund (VSF) has donated solar-powered borehole, four hand wash facilities, 2,000 reusable facemasks, gallons of hand sanitizers, liquid hand wash and cartons of bleach to three secondary schools in Kaduna.

Chairperson, Victims Support Fund Taskforce on Covid-19, Mrs. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, said three schools, Government Day Secondary School, Ungwar Rimi Bajju, Zangon Kataf LGA, Government Junior Secondary School, Rimin Doko, Zaria LGA and Government Junior Secondary School, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base, Igabi LGA, are to benefit from the donation.

Speaking during the commissioning of the facilities at Government Junior Secondary School, NAF Base, Kaduna Thursday, Toyosi said the items aimed at preventing COVID-19 among the students and staff of the schools, while ensuring hand washing and hygiene among them.

“Following the successful implementation of the 1st phase and 2nd phase of the VSF COVID-19 emergency intervention, the VSF Taskforce on COVID-19 as part of the 3rd phase, commenced the hand-over of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects in Kaduna state at the Government Junior Secondary School, Nigerian Air Force Base.

“Three schools in Kaduna state are to benefit from the WASH projects. Each school will receive: A solar-powered borehole, four hand wash stations, 2,000 pieces of reusable facemasks, five pieces of 4 litre hand sanitizers, 120 bottles of 500ml liquid hand wash and five cartons of bleach.

“The hand-wash stations were set up in the schools and the schools have been supplied with liquid hand-wash, sanitizers and bleach. VSF continues to provide succour to vulnerable Nigerians as well as institutional support to agencies involved in the fight against COVID-19.”
