Former Zamfara state Governor Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari has purchased over 300,000 bags of grains to be distributed to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to cushion the effect of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic and the Ramadan fasting.
The Vice chairman of the party in charge of Zamfara Central, Alhaji Sani Gwamna stated this while fielding questions from Newsmen in Gusau Wednesday.
According to him, each of the 14 local government areas of the state would receive 6000 bags of rice, 3,000 bags of Maize, 3,000 bags of Millet, 6,000 bags of guinea corn and 2,000 bags of sugar respectively.
He added that, the state party officials would be given a total of 6,000 bags of rice, 3,000 bags of millet, 6,000 bags of Guinea corn, 3,000 bags of Maize and 2,000 bags of sugar.
He further said that, 11 man committee has been constituted in all the 14 local government areas of the state with a view to ensuring that, the donation reached all wards and villages across the state.
He added that the food items have already arrived Gusau the state capital and would soon be distributed to beneficiaries.
Reacting on why the intervention was not handed over to the state government’s committee on the fight against Covid-19, Sani said, “The state government did not contact us being the opposition, as such; we decided to distribute the grains to our party supporters only”.
