COVID-19: Zamfara to fumigate state

As part of efforts to control the spread of coronavirus Zamfara state, the Government has engaged the services of two private firms to conduct aerial fumigation, dispose refuse, and disinfect public places in the 14 local government area of the state.

Blueprint reports that the exercise will jointly be supervised by the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, and Ministry for local government and community development respectively.

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle while flagging off the exercise in Gusau, stated that 100 medical doctors and health personnel have been trained by his administration to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic into the state.

He said the rational behind the exercise was to cleanse and get rid of the COVID-19, and other related air borne diseases so as to ensure the safety and health of the people of the state.

“My administration had established two isolation centers in the state to contain the spread of the Corona Virus disease in the state and the current aerial/fumigation and disinfecting public places will go along way in reducing the risk of contracting the virus among people in the state”. Matawalle stated.

Blueprint reports that, an adhoc staff who were technically given all the necessary training have been drawn from the 14 local government councils, while all the necessary materials and kids have been provided to each adhoc staff to make them efficient.
