Crest Inn Club shooting: Lagos CP orders arrest of officers involved

Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu psc has ordered the arrest and detention of Police Officers involved in the shooting incident that led to the death of one person at Crest Inn Club  Oshodi.

The Incident was said to have happened on 29th November, 2019 at about 8.30pm which led to the death of 27-years-old Maliki Mohammed and two others who sustained injuries.

According to a statement released on 30th of November 2019 by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State, DSP Bala Elkana, the Police Officers involved are Inspector Orubu Olusola, Inspector Apalowo Ola, Inspector Kasai Sule, Sergeant Momoh Ogwuche and Sergeant Adoga Collins attached to Akinpelu Division.

He said the arrested officers were under the supervision of DSP Oloko Wale, who is the Divisional Crime Officer and ASP Adamu Babajo, the Divisional Operations Officer.

“In their statement, the team said they were at the club in response to a complaint made by one Makinde Omowunmi Abibat of No 9 Olaore Street,  Mafoluku, Oshodi at Akinpelu Police Station that she was assaulted in the Club.

“That while trying to effect an arrest, they were attacked by some hoodlums which necessitated their use of Firearms”, PPRO said.

The Police Spokesman however, said this fell short of the provision of Force Order 237 which defined the circumstances in which a Police officer will be justified to use his firearms.

Odumosu promised that members of the Public will be updated on the outcome of the Orderly Room Trial while assuring families and friends of the victims that justice would prevail.

He equally vowed that impunity would not be tolerated under his watch.
