Crime: Sokoto police parade 20 suspects




The Nigerian Police Force, Sokoto state command, had  Wednesday paraded 20 suspects over various offences ranging from armed robbery, cattle rustling and gun running among others.

Parading the suspects, the state commissioner of police, Alhaji
Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje said on February 12,  this year, one Hali Abubakar and eight others came to the Kwanni Police station and reported that on the same date, one Abubakar Mamuda , Aliyu Shehu , Yunusa Tukur , Alisa’u Abdullahi, Wadata Shehu and Aminu Mukhtar, aka, Matse have conspired with one Abdulrashid  Shana’u, Taju Mohammed, Tukur Abubakar and Kabiru, aka Bauri, now at large, armed with weapons  had invaded houses of
the complainants respectively and robbed them of their caws , ships and goats.

According to the CP, while on interrogating the suspects they confessed to the crime and admitted that they stole the animals. The accused were from Bodinga and Dange Shuni local government areas.

CP Sani said that 24 sheep, eight goats, 11 Cows and three motorcycles were recovered from them.

The suspects also offered to bribe with the sum of seven hundred thousand naira (N700, 000.00k) for the Police patrol team to allow them escape, but the Police refused and arrested them.

Similarly, the CP Sani said on 27/January this year, the police stormed a hideout of one Sama’ila Alhaji Mamman who is allegedly involved in cattle rustling and a total of 41 cattle were recovered from the hideout.

He said: ”Following a tip off, operatives of IGP STS Sokoto sector,stormed the hideout of one Samaila Alhaji Mamman, who was allegedly involved in cattle rustling and acting as an informant to bandits in the region,

”In the course of investigation *a total of 41 cattles were
recovered* at Goronyo axis of Sokoto, owners of  which are currently being identified with the help of information supplied by the suspect,” the commissioner stated.
