Crisis hits Osun APC as supporters protest

The lingering crises in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun State chapter may have deteriorated following sustained protest by members and supporters of the party from different local governments who stormed the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital since Tuesday over ward election issues.
The aggrieved members of the party, who are apparently not satisfied with the ward congress held at Irewole local government, also protested the arrest and detention of some of their colleagues.
Many of the protesters were arrested and remanded in Ilesa prison last week Friday, according to a source within the party, who also disclosed that their bail was secured on Tuesday and they were released from the prison.
Though, the publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, denied the alleged death of any member during the crisis, he admitted the crises but was quick to say that the party has settled the crisis amicably.
Again, yesterday members of the party from Obokun local government began their protest in the morning, shouting “thief, “thief, thief” at the chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famoodun.
The protesters, who carried placard with various inscriptions such as: ‘Fear God, Give Us Our Mandate’, ‘Think of future election’, ‘No to imposition’, among others, threatened that ‘imposition’ would have adverse effect the party subsequently.
Speaking with our correspondent during the protest at the party secretariat on Wednesday, the chairman, Obokun ward 1, Prince Adepoju Adejoorin, alleged that the party Chairman, Prince Famoodun and his executive have been imposing candidate on the party.
He explained that the party had conducted primary thrice in Obokun, but failed announce the winner, adding that though Jide Agbaje had won in all three, alleging that a PDP woman and wife of a former counsellor, was later imposed on them.
The women leader, Mrs Lawal Taiwo, who started that she has been in the fold progressives for 18 years, insisted that she would not allow the PDP to be imposed on her.
She called on the party Chairman, Famoodun, Secretary, Salinsile, and Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to return before the issue get out of hands.
