Cross River Igbo to honour Ogah, others

The Igbo Congress in Cross River state has concluded plans to honour the Minister of StatenMines & Steel, Dr Uche Ogah, and other prominent sons and daughters of Igbo extraction.

A press statement made available to our reporter in Calabar and signed by the interim president of the group, Prince Raymond Atulomah, and chairman, central planning committee, Nze Chuks Agbarakwe, said the ceremony would be preceded by a thanksgiving service over the appointment of Igbo sons and daughters into Governor Ben Ayade’s government.

“The event is to honour our sons and daughters who have excelled in various fields. We are also honouring some distinguished personalities who have contributed to humanity,” the statement said.

Those to be honoured alongside Dr Ogah, according to the statement, include Ugoji Nwabueze, senior special assistant to the governor on Non indigene Affairs. Dr. Nacy Irek, senior special assistant on Information; Hon Justice A Onyebueke, Presiding Judge Akamkpa High Court, and Mr. Chidiebere Onyemaizu, senior special assistant on print media.

“The event, under the chairmanship of Prof. Rufus Okoro of Physics Department, UNICAL, is slated for May 9, 2021 by 1:00pm at No 76, Atekong Street, (Gomez).

“It would be preceded by thanksgiving service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Navy Barracks, IBB Way, Calabar by 8:00am. At the event, there would be Igbo cultural shows, display of Igbo cuisines and inauguration of the congress executive.

“Expected at the epoch-making ceremony are Governor Ben Ayade, special guest of honour, Dr. Uche Ogah, Minister of State, Mines & Steel, Chief Gideon Ihezie (CEO, Gimpet Oil Nigeria Ltd) and Chief Fidelis O. Onyebueke (Grand Patron, Ohanaeze in Cross River state),” it stated
