Cross River: Okoh, 3 others know fate Thursday

The fate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Rose Oko representing Cross River North senatorial district will be decided today when the second Cross River State Election Petitions Tribunal determines the case challenging the validity of her election.

Chief Wabilly Nyiam of the All Progressives Congress in suit number EPT/CAL/S/09/2019 is challenging Senator Oko’s election alleging irregularities and wants the result of the February 23 election cancelled.

Similarly, another suit with number EPT/CAL/HR/06/2019 between APC’s candidate Jude Ngaji and his PDP counterpart, Jarigbe Agom will equally be determined today.

It will be the same with that involving Dominic Aqua Edem of the APC and Essien Ayi of the PDP. The case will settle between the two who has the mandate of their constituency to represent it at the House of Representative.

Another House of Representatives case equally billed to be decided is the petition instituted by Mkpanam Obo-Bassey Ekpo of the APC against PDP’s Daniel Asuquo, while Akiba Bassey Ekpenyong of the APC will equally know his fate in the petition he brought against Eta Mbora of the PDP.

The tribunal presided over by Justices A. A. Babawale, S. B. Shuaibu and M. C. Okoh, will deliver judgment on five of the cases before it.

Meanwhile, judgment in the governorship and state House of Assembly elections of March 9, 2019 should be delivered before September 25.
