CRPP lauds INEC for credible Enugu guber polls



 Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Enugu, for conducting a credible, free and fair governorship election in Enugu state in recent time.

Referring particularly to last Saturday’s governorship election in the state, the group pointed out that they were convinced that, “INEC performed excellently well in the conduct of the election. “

The Enugu state coordinator of CRPP, John Nwobodo, who  made the commendation at a press briefing in Enugu, Tuesday, said that INEC did not leave any doubts whatsoever because the election was not only free, fair and transparent but also peaceful.

Nwobodo said: “the coalition has comprehensively appraised and evaluated the conduct of last Saturday’s governorship election in Enugu state and we are convinced that INEC performed excellently in the conduct of the election.

“The coalition hereby expresses satisfaction with the conduct of the election and congratulates INEC for conducting free, fair, transparent and peaceful election in Enugu state.

“Beyond a shadow of doubt, the governorship election is the best and the freest election ever conducted in Enugu state since the return to democratic governance in 1999,” he said.

The group also commended Governor  Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his landslide victory at the polls, saying that Ugwuanyi deserved to be re-elected for  second term in office.

The group appealed to the candidates of the opposition parties who were defeated at the polls to join hands with Ugwuanyi to move the state forward.

“At this juncture, we most heartily congratulate Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu state and the governor-elect for his landslide victory at the polls, winning a well deserved second term in office.

“We appeal to other contestants for the highly exalted position to join hands with the governor to move Enugu state to a higher level of progress and advancement,” the coalition stated.

The coalition commended INEC for the peaceful conduct of the election and  also the media, security agencies, election observers as well as the civil society organisations for the sterling roles they played in ensuring that the election went well.
