Customs generates over N168m in Adamawa in 2018

Adamawa and Taraba states  Customs Command have generated N168,294,227 out of the revenue target of N197,301,635.98 given to the Command in 2018.

This was disclosed yersterday by the Comptroller of the Command, Kamardeen  Olumoh  at a press conference in.Yola.

He explained that though the amount generated by the command in 2018 fell short of the revenue target given to the command  with #29,007,408.16 but is higher than #168,113,181.28 generated in 2017.

Kamardeen  attributed the shortfall to Many challenges faced by officers and men Of the command which includes insurgency which impacted negatively on economic activities in the states,communal clashes,sectarian situation in Cameroon,flooding among others.

According to him, the command was also able to make sixty one seizure which were mainly foreign rice totalling one thousand seven hundred and fourthy bags ,vehicles,second hand clothing and 21,270 litres of petroleum products with a duty paid value of #59,781,006.81 among others.

He assured that,the command is re- strategizing  and coming out with new measures to blocked all leakages discovered in the year under review so as to supercede their revenue target for 2019.

Even as he added that, they have also handed over 3000 bags of rice confisticated from smugglers ranging from 50kg to 100 kg to the state government for onward distribution to IDPS in accordance with the federal government directive and policy of the present controller general of the Nigerian custom.
