Meanwhile, Nigeria sprinter, Isoken Igbinosun who finished seventh in 200m with a time of 24.03 has disappeared after the games. Blueprint learnt that the NSCDC sprinter before the games was the fastest female athlete in the 100m, clocking 11.42s with a wind-aided time at the Kaduna Golden League in December 2017.
Sources around the team revealed that the female athlete was nowhere to be found during the departure of Team Nigeria back to the country. Nigeria finished on the ninth position after winning 24 medals at Gold Coast. Midway into the second most rated international sporting event, issues relating to athletes allowances nearly crashed Nigeria’s hope of advancing but Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung who stayed all through waded in and assured of government efforts to clear outstanding debts.
