Dambazau commissions projects, decorates new DCG

Minister of Interior, Lt Gen Abdulraman Dambazau (rtd) yesterday commissioned the newly built Conference Centre, 1 kilometer gymnasium access road, and kicked off a tree planting exercise at the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Abuja. In a statement made available to the press by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Sunday James, the Conference Centre is expected to house the training centre, seminar and workshop for improved capacity building, while the road network is to redefine the architectural structure and accessibility of the NIS headquarters.
The tree planting is for green environment as every Assistant Controller general (ACG) is expected to plant a tree at the headquarters before leaving the service. In his speech, the minister congratulated the newly promoted DCG and stressed the need for NIS to redouble its effort in protecting the Nigerian borders and restrict the movement of unauthorized people in and out of the country. “Our borders are porous.
We must find a means to protect our borders from criminals; criminals who come in with all kinds of cross border criminality, such as movement or smuggling of arms, smuggling of drugs, human trafficking and, of course, irregular migration. “Secondly, we must support the government in the area of moving the economy forward by ensuring that those who require passport are provided with it within 48hrs.
