Danagogo dreams semi-final

Minister of sports/chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Tamuno Danagogo has stated that his utmost target and desire is to see Nigeria’s Super Eagles reach semi-final stage of this year’s World Cup jamboree holding in Brazil.
Dr. Danagogo, who spoke in Abuja underscored the role sports especially football have played in uniting and bridging the gap which ethno-religious rivalry seemed to have created among the various of divides of the country.

He maintained that the present administration was working hard to ensure that sports at all levels remained a tool through which many individuals especially young ones were exposed and engaged meaningfully.
Dr. Danagogo, who replaced Malam Bolaji Abdullahi barely two months ago, reiterated: “Our Super Eagles will not be in Brazil to make up the number. Right now, President Goodluck Jonathan is doing all he can to ensure that adequate funds are made available for them.

“Our target at the sports commission by the grace of God is to see our team get semi-final and ultimately get to final. It is possible. Currently, I’m aware that the football federation is doing all it can to ensure that we surpass previous World Cup records.
Meanwhile, head coach, Stephen Keshi, will next Tuesday release the provisional list of players expected to prosecute the World Cup competition kicks off on June 12.
