Dangote Transport rolls out CSR schemes in Kogi

Relief came to communities in Kogi state as the Transport Division of the Dangote Cement Plc rolled out a plethora of community intervention activities to mark its ‘Sustainability Function’ for 2021.

Dangote Cement had doled out billions of naira in its ‘highly structured’ community relations schemes over the years, one of which is the multi-billion naira Obajana-Kabba concrete road that was completed this year. It is Nigeria’s longest concrete road project.

Speaking weekend at the commissioning of the 16,000 litres capacity borehole donated to the Oyo Iwa mining community, National Director of Logistics, Dangote Cement Plc, Mr. Carlos Rincon, said the President of the Dangote Group Alhaji Aliko Dangote is passionate about philanthropic works, and as well appreciative of the peaceful and robust relationship between the company, the state and the communities.

Mr. Rincon said the Sustainability Week offers a rare opportunity for an interface between the company and communities, while describing the intervention as an “epoch making occasion”.

Our reporter said the Transport Division of the company has also customized Water Tanker Distribution Scheme that further supports water supply to the communities.

“We are rehabilitating Ejire Road in Obajana Community to make that road accessible to users and thereby improving the livelihood of residents,” Mr. Rincon who was represented at the event by Mr. Raymond Osibeme said.

Speaking at the event, the Baloo of Oyo Iwa, Oba Solomon Obahawu commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his philanthropic spirit, saying the company has supported them in multiple ways.

The traditional leader said jobs have been created, roads are being constructed, electricity and water have also been provided by the company.
