Dankwambo, Gwamna mourn Hashidu

Gombe state governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has commiserated with the family and people of Gombe state over the demise of the first civilian governor of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Habu Hashidu.
Governor Dankwambo, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on New Media, AbuUbaida Ibrahim Kuna, described Hashidu as irreplaceable not only to the family of the deceased but to the entire people of the state and prayed that Allah (SWT) grant the soul of the former governor an eternal peace, mercy and forgiveness.
He said the late Hashidu was a visionary and exemplary leader who gave priority to the welfare of the people and laid the foundation for the enviable development taking place now in Gombe state.
As the first executive governor, Alhaji Hashidu had brought to bear his wealth of experience in laying the foundation for the development of the state and distinguished himself as a man of vision and a pace setter.
“No wonder his four year tenure witnessed execution of people oriented projects and programmes as well as remarkable promotion of harmony and peaceful coexistence among the diverse people of the state.
“He was a complete gentleman and accomplished public servant who showed uncommon love for the state and the people as symbolized by his constant preaching of peace, unity and well-being of the people as well as engagement with stakeholders during his service years as a minister, state chief executive and after leaving office”.
Similarly, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr.
Jamil Isyaku Gwamna condoled with Governor Dankwambo, Chairman Gombe state Emir and Chiefs Council, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar iii as well as the entire Gombe people and, specifically, the family of Abubakar Habu Hashidu.
In a statement made available to journalists in Gombe by his media coordinator, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, he said: “Our hearts bleed as we grieve for the loss of our national emblem of peace, patron to the core at all levels of social demands.
“He saw the interests of his people as the reason for existence and pursue the course of developing his fatherland by serving the state and nation with the kind of hearts that only melts for the yearnings of the people whom he has been mandated to serve.”

Media network extends campaign to higher institutions\ By Auwal Ahmad Gombe A nongovernmental organization, Media Network in Gombe state has extended its sensitization campaign to students of the Federal College of Education Technical College, Gombe on UN Resolution 1325 and the state bill on Gender and Equal Opportunities for All Persons.
The Chairman of the Network, Malam Alhassan Yahya disclosed this while speaking during the sensitization campaign organized by the Network supported by UN-Women in implementing EU-funded program in partnership with UNICEF, Gombe state Ministry of Women Affairs and Search for Common Ground in Gombe.
He said that the sensitization campaign to students at higher institutions was for them to understand United Nation Resolution 1325, and the Gender Equal Opportunities for all Persons Bill as well as the role of women in peace and security, particularly in conflict areas.
The chairman said that governance in Nigeria, whereby from independence to date, no woman contested for the presidency or became President of Nigeria or vice is not good enough.
In addition, there are limited limited numbers of female legislators at the upper and lower chamber.
Malam Yahya called on Gombe state government to reduce vulnerability by 35 percent and to build women capacity for so they can know issues at stake in the state.
