Dankwambo to retired perm secs: Contribute to good governance

Gombe state governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has enjoined retired permanent secretaries in the country not to relent in contributing ideas that are of benefit to development of the nation.
Dankwambo made the call at the first national conference of representatives of retired Permanent Secretaries of the 36 states of the federation, held in Gombe on Tuesday.
The governor, who spoke through the state Head of Civil Service, Adamu Abubakar, also called on the serving permanent secretaries to respect the retired ones.
He commended the state chapter of the association for organising the conference which he described as coming at a time when the state civil service needs focus.
Earlier, Gombe state branch chairman of the Association of Retired States Permanent Secretaries, Alhaji Daudu Abdussalam, said the aim of the conference was to map out modalities for the formation of the national body of the association. Abdussalam pointed out that the formation of the national body was not for the interest of the contemporary state retired permanent secretaries alone but also for those yet unborn. “I am sure when formed the association would be very strong force in the affairs of the country. Its envisaged potentials will defiantly impact positively on the lives of Nigerians in general.”
He said the civil service being the master piece and veritable constituency, he was confident that when the retired permanent secretaries come together they would play greater role in advisory capacity as well as stamp out vices and reposition the civil service for good governance, transparency, accountability and due process.
