Dankwambo withholds salaries of over 2, 000 aides after PDP’s defeat

After defeat of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent Governorship and National Assembly Election in Gombe state, the outgoing Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has withholds the salaries and allowances of over 2, 000 political appointees in the state.

Speaking to Newsmen in Gombe Thursday one of the Special Assistant to the governor who craved anonymity alleged that the affected political appointees were those appointed few months to the 2019 general elections.

He alleged that the affected aides include Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants adding that most of them were paid just once as the government withheld their salaries after the ruling PDP lost governorship election.

According to the complainant, the affected political appointees were not issued with any memos on why their salaries were not paid neither were they disengaged by the governor.

Another Special Adviser to the governor who also spoke under anonymity explained that his monthly salary is N400, 000 noting that he was only paid once before the general election. He called on Dankwambo to settle their arrears before he hands over on May 29th, 2019.

“If our outstanding salaries are not paid before the handover, it means our works and services rendered to the governor are in vain. It is very unfair for the governor not to pay us our entitlements just because our party has lost election or some people have betrayed him. Let him do the needful for posterity sake,” he said.
