Dapchi community to hold rallies, prayers for Leah’s release

The parents of Daphi school girls are set to organise rallies and prayers to commemorate one year anniversary of the abduction of their daughters and to put pressure on the federal government to negotiate the release of Leah Sharibu, the only Christian girl who has been withheld.

Secretary of the association, Kachalla Bukar, who made the disclosure on Monday to our correspondent, expressed dismay over non-release of Leah,

“Inorder to commemorate the abduction and release of our daughters, we have organised a fasting and prayer today (Monday) and will hold rally tomorrow (Tuesday) to commemorate the incident”

“This fasting and prayer will be observed by both Muslims and Christians in the community and will hold prayers at Mr. Nathaniel Sharibu’s house to urge federal government to negotiate for the immediate release of Leah who is still in captivity.” he said.

Students of Government Girls Science Technical College Dapchi were abducted on February 19, 2018, at their hostel in Yobe state by Boko Haram insurgents and were returned months later, leaving only Leah in captivity.
