Delegates doubt Jonathan’s will to implement conference outcomes

Some delegates at the National Conference yesterday expressed doubt on President Goodluck Jonathan’s political will to properly implement the outcome of the ongoing conference, citing several reports in the past that government did not implement.

One of the delegates, Saidu Mohammed, said President Jonathan in his speech did not assure the conference whether the recommendations from it would be fully implemented.
The delegate said, “I did not believe Mr. President on this because past recommendations have not been implemented. So, I want to urge him to ensure that the recommendations of this conference are properly implemented.”

Also, Prof. Goodwin Dara, in his remarks, said one of the problems the ongoing conference will face is the implementation of the outcome, but according to him, there are institutions waiting to fight the outcome of the conference.
In his own, Elder Bulus Dareng, representing North central said: “I hope that Mr. President will have the courage and political will to execute the outcome of the conference.”
Dareng added that for Nigeria to move forward the “untouchables must be torched” saying if nothing is done the country will remain as it is.
