Delegates raise alarm over secretariat’s negligence

Former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba has blamed the conference’s secretariat for not providing basic conveniences such as tissue paper at the toilets.
Etiaba, who told the conference that lack of basic conveniences like can spark off health problems for the delegates, lamented that she went to conveniences and could not get tissue papers.
The former deputy governor complained that even when she sent one of the cleaners to the gents, she was told that there were none.

She urged the administrative managers of the conference to make available such things in order to avoid outbreak of diseases.
She also noted that the secretariat has been more concerned with reports in newspapers on the amount they were being paid instead of providing basic needs of delegates at the conference.
Another delegate, Junaidu Mohammed also complained about the inability of  the delegates to receive medical treatment at clinic of the National Judicial Institute.
He said the issue of health is necessary in view of the demise of their colleague, AIG Misau, who died few days after the conference commenced.

He said they were told that the Nigeria Judicial Institute could give them treatment for minor health problems but when he went to the clinic, the clinic was not functional to attend to him.
He said the inability of the clinic to attend to the delegates is dangerous given the age of some of the delegates, and urged the leadership of the conference to sort out the problem with immediate effect.
Chairman of the conference, Justice Idris Kutigi who reacted to the matter, told the delegates that he would take up the issues with the secretary of the conference.

Some of the delegates who were not happy with Dame Etiaba and Junaidu Mohammed’s public remarks said an executive section would be held to consider some of the issues affecting them in order not to wash their dirty linen before the press while others suggested that delegates should write their complaints and forward to the leadership for consideration to save time.
