Delta Force takes over Kada City

Delta State Government will on Wednesday, February 20, officially take over newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Kada City FC on behalf of Delta Force FC.

The ownership transfer deal had been on since early January when the club, against all permutations, grabbed one of the four promotion tickets during the heated Nigeria National League, (NNL) Super 8 playoff in Aba.

Financier of the club Ekene Abubakar has all along insisted his club are not for sale.

But it has now emerged that under the sales agreement, which has been formalised at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the documentation is understood to have passed LMC scrutiny, Kada City will be taken over by Delta State government and will feature in the NPFL with the name Delta Force.

It was understood that Delta Force slot in the second-tier league NNL will be taken up by Kada City.

“The transfer of ownership deal will be announced next week Wednesday, February 20”, Scorenigeria.com.ng was told by an official.

Abubakar did not respond to an SMS to his mobile phone seeking for confirmation of the deal.

“We’ve hear about it. It is no longer new to us here because it’s all over the place here”, an official of Kada City said in a text message to Scorenigeria.com.ng

When contacted, Tony Okowa, chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, did not confirm or deny the deal but rather asked Scorenigeria.com.ng to call back on Thursday
