Desperation for relevance marred Kwara PDP congresses – APC

Kwara state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that desperation for relevance in state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was responsible for the death of one person during last Saturday’s ward congresses.

The APC, which condemned the killing of one person during violence that erupted in some venues of the PDP ward congresses in Ilorin, said “the current spate of wanton destruction of lives and property was as a result of desperation and greed for political relevance.”
Its Interim state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, in a statement, said “it is disturbing that PDP has extended its gangsterism to blood-letting and senseless killings in a state known for peace and harmony.”

The statement said: “The fracas which took place at the PDP secretariat in Sango – Ilorin,  between supporters of a former senator and the chairman of a federal commission at Ajikobi central ward in Ilorin, has once again brought to the fore the kind of greed and selfishness of members of the PDP in the state.”
It called on the state Police Command to probe the death of the person recorded during the PDP congresses with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The party commiserated with the families of the deceased and called for compensation by the PDP to ameliorate their sufferings.
