Despite no action, S/Eagles climb to 29th spot in the world

The world football governing body, FIFA, Thursday released the latest world ranking with the Super Eagles now ranked as the 29th best team in the world even though they did not kick a ball in the month under review by FIFA.

The three-time African champions moved two spots up from last month.
Only Senegal (20th) and Tunisia (26th) are the African teams rated better than the Eagles.
No thanks to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Nigeria last played a full international in November 2019, winning a 2021 AFCON qualifier in Lesotho 4-2.
Next month, they will play two friendlies in Austria.

They battle Cote d’Ivoire (60th) on October 9 and four days later they tackle the higher ranked Tunisia.
The results of these matches will impact on the next ranking to be announced on October 22.
