Diaspora players present equipment for African Championship

Nigerian players in Diaspora presented equipments worth thousands of Naira to the Handball Federation of Nigeria(HFN) for athletes preparing for the forthcoming African Nations Cup holding in Gabon next year.
A representative of the retired player, Lawrence Ekile who presented the equipment yesterday at the Federal Secretariat of the National Sports Commission disclosed that the token is just to give back to the nation.
“We need to start from somewhere. Handball had gone through a lot in the country as former international we thought that we really need to help develop the upcoming ones and of course we have to start from somewhere, this is what necessitated the gesture” Ekile said during the presentation.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Commission, Mrs Tayo Oreweme praised the gesture of the Diaspora players and urged former athletes to always come to the aid of the country especially in their hours of needs. The equipment comprised, balls, tee-shirt, cones, etc
Dr.Ademola Are also thumbs up the gesture and declared that this is a new dawn for handball in the country.
Meanwhile , an elated secretary of the federation , Alhaji Haruna Maigidan Sama,has disclosed to our correspondent that invited players to camp are to report in Lagos on
December 3rd, under the watchful eyes of coach Michael Taangahar and assisted by Solomon Yola as assistant coach while Segun Tunji as goalkeeper trainer.
A final 16-man list will be selected for a closed camping in Cotonou on 9 January 2018 and will depart Libreville, Gabon on 15 January 2018 for the Nations Cup scheduled to take place January 17 -28.
Nigeria will feature in Group B alongside Egypt, Angola, Morocco and Congo.
Group A has Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon, Dr Congo and host Gabon.
