Dickson appoints head for security outfit

Bayelsa state Governor Henry Seriake Dickson yesterday appointed Prince Duoye Koroye to man the activities of the state security outfit, Bayelsa Volunteers.

This appointment, he said, is to enhance zero tolerance for crimes and criminality in the state.

Speaking to journalists in Yenagoa after the inauguration,  Koroye said restructuring of the security outfit was part of government’s policy which the leadership of the state volunteer were involved in.

“We are repositioning the youth mentality to do the right thing in the state and to see this body as an avenue for training,” he said, adding that the misconception of the people seeing youths of Bayelsa Volunteer as touts must change.

“The Bayelsa state volunteer is headed by a responsible chairman, Otobo Barakumor, with years of experience in management of youth matters. We  will partner with other security agencies in the state to train and retrain all the youth volunteers of security outfit to identify corrupt practices and to identifying criminals,” he said.

“Although we are not making it public, but we have our own plans, we engage the youth and bring them closer, the issue of violence is over, and our business is purely to secure lives and property in the state.”

He also commended the state Governor Henry Seriake Dickson for his efforts in fighting crime in the state and making the state a safe haven.

“I want to say that Governor Henry Seriake Dickson is a gift to Bayelsa state and to Nigeria, right from the creation of Bayelsa state this government is the only government that has been fighting crimes to its lowest level.”

He also warned youths in various communities who are fond of harassing company workers on sites to desist, adding that “it’s now zero tolerance to criminals who are thwarting the efforts of government in all the on-going projects.”
