Dickson tasks young professionals on nation-building

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayels state has called on the over 700 young professionals that converged on Yenagoa, the state capital, to actively participate in the socio-economic development of the country.
A statement from the Government House lauded the initiatives of the young professionals, especially in the organisation of a one-day summit aimed at x-raying the socio-economic and political situation of the nation.

According to the statement, the theme of the summit “The Role of Young Professionals in Nation Building and The Quest for Purposeful Leadership” is most appropriate, and that with the present economic situation youths should use the occasion to discuss extensively and proffer solutions.
The statement said: “As young professionals, you have a prominent role to play in bringing the nation out of the present economic mess. The political class is looking onto you to set an agenda that will be beneficial to all and sundry.

“On assumption of office over two years ago, I made my stand known on the issues affecting the youth, especially the various professional groups. This administration will do everything under the ambit of law to support your activities, which are geared towards the economic development of the country.
“The era of young professionals being used as political tools is over in our country. Take this message to your respective states and let the youth know that they are valuable assets to the country.”
